SQL Software Does Not Install
Does it halfway install and then roll itself back ? this is where you dont have enough permissions to install software on your pc, else you can go and check the Microsoft Website wwww.microsoft.com/sql and try downloading the latest version of MSDE for free. Also the Installer in the Windows Operating system you are using might need updating go to the windows update and check your computer for the latest updates.
 
To see if it is installed go to program files and look for microsoft sql server if the folder is there look for 80 folder then go into tools and then binn folder and try to find the sqlmangr.exe file. You should be able to double click on this file to start the Service manually.
